Director Requests Funding For Tennessee Rehab Center
The Director of the Tennessee Rehab Center in Columbia addressed the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners last week, requesting that city leaders provide a portion of the center’s funding.
Director Cindy Elliott addressed the board during their bi-monthly business meeting Thursday evening. Elliott explained that in the past six months the center has provided serves for a total of 277 individuals, 25 of whom reside in Lawrenceburg.
The center provides services for persons with disabilities. Elliott explained that their goal is to allow these individuals to return to the workforce and become productive citizens.
Because 9% of those receiving through the center are from Lawrenceburg, Elliott requested that the board fund $1,500 of the center’s budget in the coming business year. Based upon the number from Lawrenceburg receiving services, Elliott pointed out, “I should be requesting $8,000.”
Board members will take Elliott’s request under advisement during the coming weeks, during which they will formulate a financial plan for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
